Dealing With Anxiety
There is a critical differentiation between dealing with anxiety and eliminating anxiety from your life. The former should be your focus with the latter as your ultimate goal. The cure for anxiety for some people is in first learning to deal with anxious situations, work through them, analyze afterward, and then over time incorporate successful experiences into a personal internal reference system for overcoming anxiety in the future. For others the causes of anxiety can be chemical and physiological, psychological, or even environmental. The most difficult types of anxiety are when the person feels that the base for their internal uneasiness is founded in logic, reason, and reality.
Eliminate Contributing Causes
One thing to remember when dealing with anxiety is that there are many contributing causes that can be identified and then eliminated from your life. It is not often discussed, but very much a reality that dieting, taking stimulants, or not getting proper sleep are all underlying factors that can not only contribute to, but actually cause anxiety. Each person reacts different to each of these inputs, but just as paranoia is a side effect of severe drug use, anxiety is commonly associated with the use of stimulants or even diet pills. Severely restricting you caloric intake can also create anxiety. Have you ever heard of comfort foods? These are normally high in calories and fat, the exact things you are missing while on a diet. As a result, your body can send out panic or stress signals to your brain that will create feelings of anxiety.
Understanding Life
Life has many twists and turns that lead to stress and anxiety when a person believes that outcomes are uncertain and that anything can happen at any time. While this is a reality that we all live with, just as winning the lotto is not likely, nor is the chance that the worse possible things will happen in every situation. This sounds like a platitude to the person who is dealing with anxiety, but it is not a platitude, it is a statistical reality that bad things do not always happen.
Forming A Foundation
If you have friends and family, then forming a foundation of support within those groups is critical in combating economic or social anxiety. When examining their life, many people know that there are certain people that will be there for them in any situation. Feeling this underlying support is another method of dealing with anxiety because you know that whatever happens, you have somewhere to go, others that love you, and a place of refuge.
Even if you are dealing with anxiety and you do not have the type of relationships that you can count on, you can feel comforted in knowing that society itself has countless resources and programs that are filled with people that truly care about you, your situation, and that will understand your predicament. This means that when bad things happen, you too have a place to turn. There are programs of support and help for financial management problems, housing issues, foreclosure prevention, not having enough food, free medical care, and even job training and clothing to help you go to an interview. This amount of easily accessible public support should give you an understanding that there are a lot of people in this world that are dedicated to stepping up and supporting any person in their time of need.
Not everyone that is dealing with anxiety can relate to any of the above, but for those that do hopefully they can find some comfort and understanding in reading that others do understand. Dealing with anxiety and finding tips on dealing with anxiety is a process of self discovery and constant research. While you may feel you are alone, you are not and do not hesitate to talk to your doctor about biological causes or a psychiatrist about internal causes. The most important thing is to not let dealing with anxiety control your life forever, seek out knowledge and help from others and in time you will find a resolution.
